Long Beach is a city of varied and distinct neighborhoods. These include Belmont Shore with its specialty stores and boutiques, whilst the Broadway corridor stretches between Downtown Long Beach and Belmont Shore and has terrific restaurants and shops. Dining out and entertainment in Long Beach is all about choices, choices, choices. Cocktails can be enjoyed at The Observation Bar on the Queen Mary. Café Sevilla is an authentic Spanish tapas bar and bistro or get some great belly laughs (and fill your belly too) at The Laugh Factory.

Community schools

The City of Long Beach is mostly served by the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), the third largest in California.Other school districts that also serve sections of Long Beach include the ABC Unified School District, Paramount Unified School District and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

Long Beach has 109 primary and secondary schools within its borders, 94 of them run by the LBUSD. It should be noted that the LBUSD was the winner of the 3rd annual $1 million Broad Prize for Urban Education in 2017. The Broad Prize is the largest prize of in the U.S.awarded to an urban school district.

Long Beach also has the well-regarded California State University, Long Beach, one of the largest universities in California, as well as its community college, Long Beach City College.
